Lilia Tsakanika, 4th Lykeio Rodou

I am Evangelia Tsakanika and I am an archaeologist. I am 45 years old, married with a son who is 8 years old.

I graduated from the department of history and archeology of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki specialising in archeology.  After graduating from the University, I successfully attended an one-year full-time postgraduate course in the department of Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Birmingham, where I became an MA holder in Greek Archaeology.

I worked in the Greek Archaeological Service for many years and I took part in many excavations in different places in Greece as scientific Staff.

For the last twelve years I have been working as a greek philologist in public schools. I have been teaching ancient and modern greek language and history in the 4th general Lyceum of Rhodes for the last four years.
I have attended a number of seminars on teaching methods concerning both children and adults. Also I speak English fluently and I am computer literate.

I like teaching as the daily cooperation with young people is very interesting and enjoyable.  My aim is to attract the interest of my students, enrich their cultural awareness and approach the science of history from various aspects.

In my spare time I enjoy running, cycling and dancing. I love travelling and meeting new people.

Gymnasium of Gennadi

The beginning of the school goes further back in time and more specifically immediately after the reunion of the Dodecanese with Greece on 7th March 1948. The Gennadi Highschool covered the need for education of the larger area at Southern Rhodes and constituted a landmark for the whole region. The villagers embraced both the school and the teachers with great respect, love and trustfully sent their children to school. In 1954 due to shortage of students it will close for good.

The Gennadi Highschool will function again after about 30 years as an annex school dependent on
the Archangelos Highschool. During the school year 1981-1982 it was converted into an autonomous Gymnasium. The Gennadi High School will quickly cover the local educational needs to the extent that in the school year 1983-1984 the function of Lyceum classes will be approved. Under this scheme it funxtions under the name “Gymnasium of Gennadi with Lyceum classes”. Our school provides our students with an ideal learning and socializing environment. We co-operate with all the relevant divisions (parents, teachers, local community and the major) aiming at the improvement and upgrading of the school climate. In our school various educational programmes are carried out in order to enhance knowledge and sensitize students. The use of new technologies and computers guarantees their familiarization with the technological development of our era.

Training course, Portugal April 2016

"ICT: From teachers to facilitators and moderators of a student-centered learning process"

Sinopse:
Basic idea of this online-course, which exists of four modules, is to prove and implement individualized teaching and learning with use of new media. Thereby in the foreground stands the practical transfer of the learned competences into the own lessons. A further focus lies in the application of online-tools which may be useful to support individualization and differentiation by the students.

Module 1
Teachers are getting more and more facilitators of self-contained learning students, that looks at least like the ideal conception ...
In practice high numbers of students and heterogeneous learning groups confronts teachers with high challenges - these are in the focus of module 1. Jointly we will analyze the new teacher role and you will learn to know possibilities to promote students individually without staying on the track with your time management.
